وَالسَّمَاءَ بَنَيْنَاهَا بِأَيْدٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَالذاريات 47
Interpretive reading
In 1929 Hubble established the expansion of the universe. A Quranic verse, expressed in the present tense implying ongoing action, is sometimes read as referring to this expansion and is therefore considered by some to have mentioned it about 1,400 years earlier.

وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَّهَا ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ
This may be understood as noting that the Sun is moving toward a point called the Solar Apex, in the direction of the constellation Hercules, at 20 km/s.
